Associated Dog Clubs of

New York State

The Associated Dog Clubs of New York State

(ADCNYS) was founded 6/2/1971. The Association is dedicated to protecting the rights of all dog owners, promoting responsible dog ownership and ensuring that laws

governing dog ownership and breeding are reasonable, enforceable and non-discriminatory. We work together with persons and organizations who promote and are engaged in the interests, the welfare, and the care of all dogs.

There are two types of membership. Type 1 membership is open to All-Breed Kennel Clubs, Specialty Clubs, Obedience Clubs, Agility Clubs, Performance Clubs, and any independent dog fancier organization in good standing with the AKC, or any other nationally recognized registry. Type 2 (Associate) membership is open to all individuals, married couples and organizations not eligible for Type I membership, who support the Association's objectives. Members need to be organized or located in New York State and conducting their major activities in New York State. Every member Club may appoint a Delegate and an alternative Delegate, who will receive notice of all club meetings and events.

of the Association are held annually in the months of March, July, and November, at the time and place designated by the President. Written notice of all meetings is mailed by the Association to each delegate at least 20 days prior to the meeting date, and posted on the website.

Legislative Alerts

With the advice and assistance of the AKC, and a lobbyist who is financed by donations from member clubs, ADCNYS maintains tracking and reviews of pending legislation for potential impact on fanciers and the general dog-owning public.

Directory of Breeders/Breed Rescue Assistance.

Every two years, the Association produces an Online and hard copy Directory of breeders and purebred rescue groups which is provided to all

member Clubs and NYS Veterinary offices free of charge. One must be a member of a member club in order to be eligible to advertise in the Breeder Directory.

ADCNYS distributes dog related information to its member Dog Clubs, dog organizations, and individuals via email and its website, and may provide assistance in offering educational and legislative programs necessary to the welfare and protection of purebred dogs, their breeders and exhibitors.
