NYS Consolidated Law

The NYS legislature has a senate and an assembly.  There are 63 senators and 150 assembly members.  They introduce about 10,000 bills each year in Assembly and another 8,500 or so in the Senate. Some 500 or so will deal with companion  animal issues, a companion animal being a cat or dog.

The usual issues generally regard breeder licensing, animal sales, animal welfare such as quartering, tethering, and veterinary care. Recently there have been issues including tail docking and ear cropping and more recently issues of animal legal rights, including those of wild animals, and ownership issues.
